Portrait of Jordan Marie Brings Three White Horses Daniel, a citizen of the Kul Wicasa Oyate, the lower Brule Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. She is a runner for justice to raise awareness of an epidemic and national crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. The red handprint that she wears while running races represents the movement and all the voices that have been silenced by this long standing violence.
I felt compelled to paint her portrait to share about her cause and to help bring a voice against white supremacy and to work towards a safer future for black, brown, and Indigenous lives. May these lives not be forgotten and may our future have more understanding, love, and equality
