This is a portrait of the runner, Knox Robinson, the leader of the running collective called Black Roses NYC. His group builds up communities and promotes physical and mental health among runners of all abilities and backgrounds. He strives to lift and support others and celebrates life through hard work and becoming resilient. This painting was inspired by a video I watched of him on social media, where I noticed words on the road that spelled horse. I thought I would change the words on the road to read "Stay the Course" to emphasize resiliency.
